There is an old saying, "same, same, but different." It means two things that appear similar but are not the same. While the cloud asset may appear to be the same as other asset types, specifically the cloud subscription contract versus the software license, critical differences require a significantly different approach.
Gain the knowledge and credentials necessary to manage this new asset type.
Upon successful completion of this course and certification exam, students will earn the designation:

ITAM IQ believes training courses should be vendor neutral, clear, concise, complete, and, most of all, practical. Whether you seek to validate what you do, enhance or confirm what you know, or be exposed to best practices used worldwide, ITAM IQ’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) training and certifications promise to deliver!
Our courses go beyond the traditional lecture to allow time for answering your questions and providing consultation. And having worked with thousands of ITAM programs around the world over the past 20 years, Co-founder and your instructor, Keith Rupnik, excels at helping individuals learn how to improve their ITAM programs. Through real-world examples, assessments, mappings and how-to knowledge, our courses focus on empowering the IT asset management program while giving practitioners the tools they need to build internal buy-in at the executive level and throughout the various business functions.
Keith Rupnik started in the technology profession in the early 1980s as a software engineer. For his first 20 years, Keith was a software developer, manager of software development teams, and a software product manager. While Keith loved developing software, he found his next love in 2006, IT asset management teaching and consulting. Keith has worked with all types and sizes of organizations worldwide, helping IT asset managers and IT professionals become better at managing their organization's IT assets and communicating the value of ITAM. His knowledge spans all disciplines of ITAM, including ITAM program management, software asset management, hardware asset management, cloud asset management, and mobile asset management.
Furthermore, Keith's breadth of experiences allows for him to understand and communicate the need to implement ITAM as a core competency involving all the primary departments within an organization. He has presented to thousands on the subject of ITAM and has developed course content. Finally, Keith believes in the need for continuous education. For Keith, learning is the equivalent of air – everyone needs to breathe in knowledge and exhale well-formed thoughts.
Look to his ITAM IQ Library posts with that mission in mind.
The relentless cyber attacks on organizations continue to accelerate. The threat landscape continues to expand with work from home, the cloud, and new technologies. More and more resources are allocated, yet IT security continues to struggle. ITAM IQ's ITAM / Cyber Security Workshop details how the ITAM program can significantly advance IT security’s objectives beyond just being an inventory function. The workshop also explains how an IT asset inventory function goes beyond just “counting things” and requires coordination throughout the IT asset’s lifecycle.

"Recently attended and completed the course Cloud Asset Management from Keith Rupnik. I can definitely recommend this training if you're in the ITAM trade."
"I think it really gives a good in-depth look into managing cloud assets, with good details in s/p/iaas. The steps to follow for these are good for use in practise and the 'Acme' examples were also a nice addition."
"The training delivered valuable new (and sometimes affirming) insights as to where to place the management of cloud assets within the field of ITAM, but also how to translate this into a practical and programmatic approach to ensure they’re actually being managed. Personally, I’ve been looking for quite some time for a course like this in our field of work."
"I liked the "dummy organization" examples and the proposed solutions for a specific cloud challenge very valuable. These are practical examples and provide best practices."
"It's not technical and gives you a lot of references where to think about talking with organizations about migrating to the cloud or better control of their cloud spend."
The CAM certification course addresses asset management of the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud service types. The SaaSAM certification course addresses only SaaS cloud service type. If you take the CAM course, you do not need to take the SaaSAM course.
SAM focuses mainly on managing a product. SAM will manage software spending and software compliance. CAM focuses on the services that deliver products. CAM manages the cloud service provider throughout the asset's lifecycle and may call on SAM and HAM to manage their respective assets.
FinOps focuses vertically on cloud services spending, while CAM focuses horizontally, meeting the entire organization's needs and getting the most value from the organization’s investment. FinOps is addressed in this course.
FinOps plays a vital role but is focused on cost. CAM focuses on cost, risk, efficiencies, and compliance across all company verticals. There are many instances when cheaper is not better, and this is very important when it comes to the performance of a cloud service provider.
Yes! You can take the SaaSAM Certification Course which addresses only the SaaS cloud service.
Our instructors do not read from the presentation. Instead, we use the presentation as a visual cue and a summary of the textbook. Our instructors interject real-world scenarios or comparisons throughout the course to other ITAM disciplines, such as SAM and HAM.
Absolutely! This may be the most significant challenge your organization faces. More of IT's budget is being distributed to non-IT departments creating risks for non-compliance events and overspending on IT.
You cannot outsource your risk to a third party. This is the "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome that could be a disaster for your organization. It is your organization's data and perhaps your organization's software in the hands of a vendor who has very little liability regarding your organization's reputation and standing. You need to monitor the performance of your cloud service provider's ITAM program.
